For this post, I decided to do something a little different. Instead of showcasing a new and completed project, I decided to put together everything that I started over the past month and never got the chance to finish in one post. This was not the best time of my life which led me to give up very easily. I attempted to make a few tops for myself and my friends, cute purse's for my sister's dolls, and even attempted to make a baby blanket. I hope to make a post following this one where I try to finish every project in these photos.

As I was doing my math homework while my mom was watching her favorite show, I found myself having a lot of ideas for a sketch. I turned to the next page in my graph paper notebook and began to sketch this beautiful woman. I love incorporating culture into my art because I feel like I can pour all of my thoughts into the piece without being attacked. I was unsure about which mediums to use which is why I turned to my peers and asked for their advice. One thing I knew for sure was that I wanted this piece to fully be black and white. I did not want any color in it whatsoever. One of my classmates suggested ink as my medium and I loved the idea. With the help of my teacher, I was able to use pure black ink to paint this art piece. I bought a canvas, (not sure what size it is to be honest) and I carefully sketched out my art onto it. This part was very frustrating because pencil does not like to erase off of canvases. I did my best to not make a lot of mistakes. From there, I started outlining and painting in the largest parts of the painting. I used the tip of fountain pens for most of the tiny hairs and details in the iris of the eyes. Next part was the detailing of her hair jewelry. I had an initial sketch but I absolutely hated it so my idea is to use a white gel pen to add the design later on. I might use gold, that I am not sure of again. I also added some of my reference images as they came from a show about the Ottoman Empire. While I tried to clean up some of my lines with white acrylic paint, I accidentally made a grey shade. This however, showed me that if I shaded the face it would look better. SO now I am working on studying the proper way to shade a side profile so I can continue that. I truly do like this piece. It might be one of my favorites that I have ever done. It is very different and now I found myself enjoying ink painting. InspirationInitial SketchIn Progress Photos1. I am currently working on trying to make new things to set up on my shop. I was hesitant to start this project knowing that it would need a lot of experimenting. My goal is to find out how to efficiently make these bags quick and bump up their quality.
2. I started by finding some inspiration on pinterest. I noticed this style of bags is trending again so what a perfect time to make and sell them. It was hard to find the right handles. I knew I didn't want to make many with just a crochet handle, so I went to my local craft store and found rings that I could make work. I was not sure if I wanted to do two seperate sides and sew them together or just make one giant piece and sew the edges. I ended up going with the second option as it seemed more seamless and it looked a lot better. 3. I am still experimenting around with making purses. I think I am going to continue exploring this trend. My goal during this course is to find new ways I can show my art that is outside of what is commonly associated with art. I am going to push myself to be confident in my work. I am going to ask my peers and specify the type of commentary I want/need. I will also be accepting of any ideas and/or recommendations that come my way. The image above has everything I love in it. Starting off is the teal bunny on the left side. He has been with me since I was born! That is almost 18 years ! I can't sleep without it. I also have some of my favorite perfumes. I love collecting fragrances. My favorite one is definitely the Dolce & Gabbana Light Blue. I also have some spools of yarn to represent my mom and I's online business. She taught me how to crochet since I was in first grade and ever since then, it has been our favorite thing to do together which is why we started our online business. I have a FRIENDS puzzle because I love doing puzzles and I also binge watch Friends like crazy. I have photos of me and my family as well as some keychains from all the places I have ever visited. I have several monkey stuffed animals because monkeys are my favorites! Last but not least, I had to include the sunglasses. Even at home I have my sunglasses resting on my head!
